How to Reach Us

Call either office, send a message, or ask for an appointment. The first conversation is free, you will speak with Attorney Kip Shepherd rather than a screener, and you will leave it knowing whether you need a lawyer at all.

The firm keeps two offices: one in Watkinsville, just outside Athens, and one in Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County. Both are set up for client meetings, and you are welcome at whichever is closer to you. What the firm handles is described on the legal services page. What past clients say about working with the firm is on the testimonials page, and the firm’s official social profiles are listed on the find us online page.

Have your paperwork with you when you call. It is the fastest way to get a real answer instead of a general one.

  • The citation, charging document, court notice or bond paperwork, if you have it
  • Any accident report, photographs or medical records
  • A short written timeline of what happened, in your own words
  • Letters or emails from an insurance company, opposing counsel or a collection agency
  • A list of your questions, including the ones about money

Email is fine for documents and questions that are not urgent. For anything with a deadline attached, call.

Urgent Matters

If You Are in Custody or Facing a DUI Charge, Call Now

Two situations should not wait for a callback. If you have been arrested and are in custody, or if you have been charged with DUI, call call the office immediately and ask for Attorney Kip Shepherd.

A DUI arrest starts a 30-day clock. Georgia law gives you 30 calendar days from the date of arrest to request an administrative hearing with the Georgia Department of Driver Services (OCGA ยง 40-5-67.1). Miss that window and your license can be suspended automatically, whether or not the criminal charge is later reduced or dismissed. The deadline is separate from the criminal case and includes weekends and holidays.

For an arrest, an outstanding warrant, or a court date inside the next week, call rather than email. If you reach the office after hours, leave your name, the charge and the court date, and the call will be returned.

Our Two Offices

Both offices are staffed for client meetings, and a case can be handled from either location. Where a case is filed is decided by the county where the events happened, not by which office you visit.

Questions About Getting in Touch

Do I need an appointment to meet with the attorney?

It is best to call first so the office can set aside time for you, but same-day and next-day appointments are often possible for urgent matters. If you are in custody or facing a DUI charge, call rather than waiting for a scheduled slot.

Is the first consultation really free?

Yes. The initial consultation costs nothing and there is no obligation to hire the firm afterward. You will get a candid read on your situation, including whether you need a lawyer at all.

What if I cannot get to either office?

Ask about meeting by phone or video. Clients who are injured, working out of town or without transportation can handle much of a case remotely, with in-person appearances saved for the court dates that require them.

Which office should I call, and how quickly will I hear back?

Either number reaches the same firm and the same attorney. Calls and messages are answered during business hours, urgent criminal and DUI matters are prioritized, and anything involving an arrest, a warrant or a court date within the week is handled the same day.

Consultations Are Free

There is no charge for the first meeting and no obligation to hire the firm afterward. Tell us what happened, bring what you have, and you will get a direct answer about your options. How the office works is explained on the about page, and the frequently asked questions page covers fees, timelines and court dates.
